Religious Education

Our Intent for RE

  • Be curious – All children have regular RE lessons that provide a time for children’s beliefs, opinions and spirituality to be explored. Children are given the opportunity to learn about a variety of faiths and ask big questions.

  • Love learning –Children are able to flourish through a wide range of learning opportunities and experiences both within the RE lessons, through Worship, and opportunities for spiritual development throughout the curriculum.  Children are encouraged to express their understanding through a variety of methods such as drama, art, courageous advocacy, and writing so that a love of learning is fostered in all children.

  • Grow together with respect - Children’s individual thoughts and beliefs are welcomed and celebrated. Our RE curriculum provides opportunities for children to learn to cherish other people’s opinions and religious beliefs. Through trips to different places of Worship during their school life, children are respectful and gain an appreciation of diversity and difference.

Our RE lessons are based on the Understanding Christianity resource; as well as, The Gloucestershire Agreed Syllabus.

RE Purpose of Study

The principal aim of religious education is to explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can gain the knowledge, understanding, and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living. - Gloucestershire Agreed Syllabus 2017

‘Be curious, love learning and grow together with respect.’
